2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
2 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Cup Shortening
2 Tablespoons Butter
3/4 Cup Buttermilk (usually add 1 teaspoon lemon juice to regular milk)
In large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Cut in chilled shortening and butter until you have pieces the size of small peas. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients; pour in the buttermilk, just until mixture clumps together. If needed add a few more teaspoons of buttermilk.
Transfer dough to lightly floured surface. Pat into a circle about 8 inches in diameter and 1/2 an inch thick. Cut out 8 - 10 round buscuits and place them on a greased baking sheet. Bake on center rack @ 450 for 10 - 12 minutes.
